Ballroom dancing
While my professional life is centered on the precision of the IR suite and the strategy of the boardroom, I find balance and inspiration through high-performance movement.
My commitment to precision and performance extends beyond the clinic and into the world of dance. This passion began in my childhood home, where I spent study breaks practicing traditional Chinese dance to guzheng music, using a window as my mirror. This early love for movement followed me to Cornell, where I performed with Amber, a Chinese dance troupe.
However, it was during my time at Oxford University that I decided to step out of my comfort zone and explore a new discipline: Ballroom Dance.
I was immediately captivated by the sport's unique blend of explosive energy and technical rigor. What began as a curiosity quickly became a competitive pursuit. Today, while navigating the demands of medical and graduate school in Boston, I continue to compete at the Championship level in both Ballroom and Latin. For me, the dance floor is a vital space for discipline and creativity, a place where the same focus required for interventional medicine is translated into the artistry of movement.
I am fascinated by the parallels between the ballroom and the operating room. Both require split-second coordination, technical mastery, and a deep sense of collaborative synergy with a partner to achieve a seamless result.
